11.9.1988 Charlottesville, VA. A trio of southbound NS GP50s leading the daily hot-shot TOFC ATL_WAS train #221 passing beneath the Rio signal bridge and taking track #2. This will put it opposite the passenger platform a few miles further at Charlottesville Amtrak station. |

Title: |
NS 7034 0n #221, another day |
Description: |
11.11.1988 Orange, VA. The signal bridge is the former C&O's indicating the end of the Piedmont Sub and the entrance to the NS mainline northbound. The tracks in the foreground form the former C&O yard. All are now gone except one, owned by the State of Virginia, which leads to Charlottesville. NS 7034 is accompanied by 7090 and 7044 on train #221. I shot in color this same locomotive lineup outside of Charlottesville (Rio) 2 days before, also leading train #221. |
